Context:          2013 team project Archmedium student competition.  Basel  Pavilion  of  Culture

Challenge:    The pavilion will act as an information point,where tourists will be able to find out about what’s on offer and organise their own visits.

Proposal:     The space will allow be able to host cultural events such as receptions, talks and small exhibitions among others.  The large number of museum and art  galleries in  Basel implies a vast variety of touristical trajectories.   We  turned  this  multitude  of  directions into our  project’s concept by making various cuts in our simple basic volume. These glass openings also make the pavilion a landmark and helps orientation in the city center. The site used to be a green area for the city center and the project intends to keep it that way, maintaining the existing vegetation and designing a roof that blends in with the tree's branches.
