The site:     Ciutat Meridiana, Barcelona            Urban design II: project of analysis and intervention proposal

Challenge: Analyze a  fragment of  urban texture, understand its morfology and its  connections  with other  types of structure, establish the relation between  the architectural object  and the  urban  surroundings  and make  a critical statement  outside the conventional  methods.

                Ciutat Meridiana is one of the housing projects under the influence of modernist ideas of the ‘50-’60, along the Besos River. The proces of suburbanization, developed fast creating new apartment buildings with an auster design  previous to any form of consideration for the urban space .   The infinite repetition, the industrial mass production and  the large-scale design solution forms a homogenous landscape. The repetition of an architectural object decreases its value and abolishes its identity. A human settlement should establish a connection with history.
